Steve Hill is Professor of Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Nottingham (UoN) and Foundation Co-Director of the UoN and University of Birmingham Centre of Membrane Proteins and Receptors (COMPARE). He obtained his BSc (pharmacology) from the University of Bristol and PhD (pharmacology) from the University of Cambridge. He has been Vice-President (meetings) and President of the BPS. In 2019 he received the Ariens Award from the Dutch Pharmacological Society for outstanding scientific achievements in pharmacology. His research has concentrated mainly on the molecular pharmacology of GPCRs. His lab has developed novel fluorescent ligand and bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (BRET) approaches to study cell surface receptors in living cells at native levels of receptor expression. He is a recipient of the UoN Vice Chancellor’s Medal. He is a previous chair of the MRC Molecular and Cellular Medicine Board and currently chairs one of the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship interview panels.
